Why I'm Walking the Camino

It started gradually. Mum kept saying 'I'm having memory issues' and laughed it off. As time went on and we started having what I call 'loop conversations', I quickly realised that this was more than 'memory issues' and so I started researching. The Dementia UK website was one of the first websites I visited. Here I learned about the different types of Dementia, the effects of the disease both the person living with Dementia and on friends and family supporting them. The Dementia UK website and helpline was honestly a lifeline.

The Challenge Ahead
The Camino isn't just a walk - it's a pilgrimage that will test my endurance, determination, and spirit over those five days in June. Every step I take will be in honor of my mum and the millions of families navigating life with dementia.

How Your Support Makes a Difference
Dementia UK's Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who provide life-changing support to families. Your donation helps fund:

- Specialist nursing support for families facing dementia
- 24/7 helpline services when people need guidance most
- Online resources and tools that provide practical, expert advice
- Training and education to improve dementia care nationwide

Even a small donation can make a huge impact. £25 could fund an hour of specialist Admiral Nurse support for a family in crisis.
