I’m fundraising for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family.

My Nana passed away with dementia in 2019, but in reality we lost her long before then. It is the cruelest disease which has a profound impact on loved ones and their relationship with the person affected. It is incredibly upsetting to watch someone you care about change beyond recognition, but also creates many practical and financial challenges for those with caring responsibilities. I know my mum and her family would have benefitted hugely from the additional support of a charity such as Dementia UK to help them navigate such a difficult and confusing time.

Today, nearly one million people in the UK are living with dementia. One in two of us will be affected by it in our lifetime – whether by caring for someone with the diagnosis, developing it ourselves, or both. It’s the biggest health and social challenge of our time. Dementia UK's Admiral Nurses, provide expert, compassionate advice and support to anyone affected by dementia, whenever it is needed.
