I'm participating in the Access Cameo Quest Challenge to raise money for Dementia UK, a cause that has become deeply personal to me and my family.

My Dad / my children's Grandad was diagnosed with dementia. Like many families facing this diagnosis, we've discovered that dementia doesn't just affect the person diagnosed – it impacts everyone who loves them. The uncertainty, the gradual changes, and the emotional weight of watching someone you love navigate this condition has shown me just how much families need many different kinds of support during this journey.

Dementia UK provides specialist dementia nurses called Admiral Nurses who offer practical and emotional support to families affected by dementia. These incredible professionals provide a lifeline when families feel lost and overwhelmed. They offer expert guidance, emotional support, and practical advice that makes a real difference during some of the most challenging times.

With over 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK, and that number expected to rise to over 1 million by 2030, the work that Dementia UK does has never been more crucial. It is likely that we all know someone impacted by Dementia. Seeing the support that my family have needed, and will continue to need in the future, it's a privilege to be able to support Dementia UK.

Anyone who knows me knows I like a good challenge, and to do a lot of walking, and the Camino Quest feels like one which is close to my families heart also. I know that all of my family will be there with me supporting me on my way - whilst I talk the heads off all of my Access Colleges!

Every donation, no matter the size, will help Dementia UK continue their essential work supporting families affected by dementia.

Your contribution could help fund:

Specialist Admiral Nurse support for families
Vital resources and guidance for those navigating a dementia diagnosis
Continued research and advocacy for better dementia care

Thank you for supporting me on this challenge and helping Dementia UK continue their life-changing work. Together, we can ensure that no family has to face dementia alone! Angela Robertson
