Twenty-five years ago, my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's and has been living with the condition like an absolute champion ever since. In the past three or four years, Dad has been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. This is a type of dementia which is closely linked to people who live with Parkinson's and have done with some time.

This has meant a lot of change for our family in terms of Dad's condition. Dementia UK provide support, resources, helplines that have really helped me and my family to navigate this difficult period. The resources for supporting people living with dementia and their families are limited when it comes to what is available from your local health care provider and local community. For example, there's not a Dementia UK Admiral Nurse in my local area. However, the online support and calls that they provide to support families are an unbelievable help to navigate difficult periods or changes in behavior, et cetera. Ultimately, there should be more Dementia UK Admiral Nurses across the UK. Fraser Graham
