Get to know us
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Our nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide expert, compassionate advice and support to anyone affected by dementia, whenever it is needed.

Today, nearly one million people in the UK are living with dementia. One in two of us will be affected by it in our lifetime – whether by caring for someone with the diagnosis, developing it ourselves, or both. It’s the biggest health and social challenge of our time.

Too many people are facing the fear and confusion of dementia alone. Left to cope without the support they so desperately need, they are pushed to their physical, emotional and financial limits.

That’s why we are here.

Our Admiral Nurses are a lifeline for families, providing health advice, offering vital emotional and psychological support and helping them plan for the future.

Whether it’s on our Helpline, through virtual or face-to-face clinic appointments or in the community, they help families cope with the relentless challenges of dementia.

“Knowing that the Admiral Nurses are there for my partner Christine as my condition progresses is so reassuring for me. It’s given us both a little bit of security to know that support will be there when we need it on our journey.”
- Andy, who lives with young onset dementia

Our mission
Our mission is for our life-changing support to be there for every family facing dementia. We are working tirelessly to help them have the best life possible for as long as possible – but right now, we cannot reach everyone who needs us.

How we'll spend your generous donations
Our partnership with Access Group will transform lives across the UK including through:
  • Helping to grow the number of Admiral Nurses to ensure they are accessible in all four nations, filling the huge gaps in care provision in communities where it’s needed most
  • Ensuring our free national Helpline remains accessible 364 days a year, offering support in time of crisis
Together, we can make sure no one faces dementia alone.
